Northbank Civil and Marine has the expertise when it comes to rehabilitation of existing Dam Navigational Locks. One of our larger projects was The Dalles Upstream Gate Replacement performed during the 2016/2017 Columbia River 14-week shutdown. Northbank fabricated and delivered a 90-foot wide, 225,000 pound gate by barge prior to the shutdown. Work performed during this short period included the demolition of the existing gate and concrete lock, installation of new gate and hoisting equipment, complete electrical and controls replacement for the NavLocks, and jacking of the 500 ton downstream gates for the replacement of the upper gudgeons. This work was performed in the worst weather periods in the Northwest in the past 25 years and was named one of ENR Northwest’s Best Projects.
