TAINTER GATE REHABILITATION

Lookout Point, located on the Middle Fork Willamette River, has five spill bays controlled by Tainter gates. Structural work included fabrication and field installation of steel weldments, weld repair on the existing strut arms, seismic reinforcement of the gate, lead-based paint abatement, painting and seal replacement. Mechanical work consisted of trunnion pin replacement, equipment demolition and replacement including hoist motors, brakes, limit switches, encoders, wire ropes, staff gages, parallel shaft reducers and gate operation testing. Work occured during two short work windows. All work will was completed in November of 2016.
